KEYNOTE SPEAKER
KAREN LEADER, FAU'S ART HISTORY PROFESSOR
Using selections from the collection of the National Croquet Museum, alongside others from the history of art, we will explore the theme of leisure activities in the history of art in the modern era. Chosen to reflect the trendy, the current, the “modern,” such works display the stylistic experimentations of Impressionism, the humor of pop culture, and the shifting understandings class and public life.
Karen J. Leader is Associate Professor of Art History at Florida Atlantic University. She received her BA from the University of California, Berkeley and her MA and Ph.D. at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Her areas of interest include art and popular culture in the 19th through the 21st centuries, and the history and future of the discipline of art history. In 2022 she founded the Art History Teaching Lab at FAU to utilize the collections at FAU for exhibitions and study.
