The National Croquet Club Announces the Dates for the 2018 Palm Beach County Summer Golf Croquet League
The tenth annual Palm Beach County Summer Golf Croquet League will begin on Tuesday, July 10th and run for six weeks. League play will be split into two divisions, one on Tuesday evenings and one on Wednesday evenings, running for five weeks. Then on Tuesday, August 14th, there will be a final playoff between the division winners from Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The finals will be followed by a Lobster Dinner and Awards Ceremony.
Last year 88 teams competed from across Palm Beach County in this doubles tournament. The teams were organized by families, friends and business associates. Many of the entrants were croquet beginners. Instruction and practice sessions are included.
PLAYER INFORMATION
Team Entry Fees
Teams of two players: $40 per player
Teams of three players: $30 per player
Teams of four players: $25 per player
*Please make sure all entry fees are made payable to the CFA (Croquet Foundation of America)
All teams are required to have a team name. Teams can register 2, 3 or 4 players for the six-week event.
Medals will be awarded to the first and second place finishers in the Championship block. Certificates will be awarded for winners and runners up in the Amateur and Beginner blocks. Special awards for Sportsmanship, Team Spirit, Most Improved Team, Youngest Player and Best New Team Name will also be presented during the awards ceremony on August 14th. The public is welcome to attend any of the Summer League activities. The Croquet Grille & Lounge will be open for drinks and light dinner fare throughout the tournament.
Golf croquet is the easiest version of croquet to learn and to play. Complimentary instruction and practice sessions will be offered from 5 to 8pm on Tuesdays June 12th, June 19th, June 26th and July 3rd at the National Croquet Club for anyone interested in entering a team in the league. Strategy sessions will also be offered from 1 to 3pm on Saturdays June 23rd and June 30th in the NCC’s bar area.
